My Story
Born in West Virginia, the oldest and only deaf child of a large Appalachian family. Smitty the Clown attended the Ohio School for the Deaf before moving to Chicago. There he met his wife Helen, worked for the Chicago Sun Times, and became the first deaf clown in the Clown Hall of Fame.

- One of the only deaf members of the Medinah Shriners
